Whether you have something special in mind to kick off another round around the sun or not, chances are that your year eve celebration will be incomplete without some scrumptious New Year’s Eve desserts (and bubbly of course!) So we thought now is the perfect time to set up a gorgeous dessert bar to stylishly display all those sweet treats. Want to know more about our New Years dessert station decor? Just keep on reading and watch the setup video and photos to find out exactly how we’ve styled a festive-looking new year’s dessert bar to end the year on a sweet note!

Backdrop Decor

When it comes to decorating any dessert station, it is wise to set things in motion with a glorious backdrop to create a festive ambiance and draw attention to your table. And because we wanted to invoke a classy and sophisticated vibe into our year eve celebrations, we settled on a classic black and metallic color palette with hints of white for a chic counterpoint. To set the scene for our New Year’s dessert table, we’ve draped our sparkling black big Payette sequin backdrop curtain on a metal backdrop stand which was placed against a plain white wall. Featuring a mesh fabric base with thousands of large round shimmering sequins sewn on top, our black sequin curtain was the perfect base for our New Year backdrop considering the shimmering details we had in mind for our backdrop decor.

In order to stylishly elevate our New Year backdrop decorations to the next level, we’ve crafted a shimmering “Happy New Year” banner using clear craft wire and glossy metallic gold foil letter stickers that has added gleaming sparkle to the backdrop decor. Whereas, the champagne bottle and goblet mylar balloons which were arranged on either side of the cheerful banner have brought a peppy charm. In case you want to make your banner a bit more prominent, you can also use our shiny gold Mylar 3D letter balloons to beautifully spell out the reason for your celebrations, besides, these Mylar letter balloons will also pair well with the bottle and goblet balloons.

Table Decorations

Even though all eyes will be on the clock at the stroke of midnight, the dessert bar is where the actual partying happens. Hence, as soon as the backdrop was set, we moved onto the table decorations. Because we wanted to highlight our desserts and tabletop decor, we’ve draped a simple yet classy black satin tablecloth on our dessert table allowing the glamorous metallic accents to shine through. We’ve further decorated the table with gold and black circle dots garlands and gold foil number stickers (indicating 2021) for that extra pizzazz and oomph.

New Year Decoration

Once the basics were done, it was time to go all out with sparkling New Year party decorations to infuse glitz and glam into our table setup. To begin with, we’ve placed several varying sized mirrored disco balls in a decorative gold round tray creating a dazzling showpiece for our dessert bar. While the silver mirrored disco balls were a nod to the iconic Times Square ball, the gold tray with embellished rims elegantly reinforced the chic color scheme and kept the balls from rolling all over the place.

With the striking ball showpiece set on one end of the dessert table, our table needed something to balance out the visual weights. Thus, we’ve arranged a couple of flipped over white washed square wooden boxes on the other end to add height to the booze and candy filled clear apothecary jars. However, in order to accentuate the fun and cheerful appeal of our table tenfold, we’ve also scattered a handful of silver and gold foil confetti dots all over the table for a pop of glitz and shimmer.

Dinnerware

When it comes to accommodating the guests with individual plates and glasses on the booziest holiday of the year, we knew handing out fine china or glassware to tipsy revelers can never end well. Thus, we settled on using disposable dinnerware that’ll not only eliminate the risk of breakage but will also make clean up after the party a lot easier. Because we were going for a chic cohesive look, we’ve opted for our black and white marbled plastic dinner plates which feature a trendy gold splattered design and paired them with white and gold paper napkins for a festive appeal. Likewise, we decided to serve the cocktails and champagne in our gold glittered disposable flutes for the guests to pop, fizzle, and clink the night away in style!

However, to display the cake and sweet treats on our dessert bar, we haven’t looked any further than our stylish black and gold scalloped edged cardboard cake stand that is not only convenient but also sturdy enough to hold an assortment of desserts. In addition to that, we’ve also placed candy filled clear apothecary jars and created our very own party poppers by filling up some silver and gold candy shaped favor boxes with small gifts, crackers, and candy to keep the gift giving tradition alive.
